The Omega Speedmaster. In the list of truly timeless classic timepieces, the Omega Speedmaster, with all of its variations, truly claims the top position. What other watch can boast being flight-tested and then exclusively selected for the Apollo missions by NASA? The Speedmaster was not specifically designed as the space-faring watch we know it as. The Speedmaster was born during the age of exploration, when humans were pushing the limits of what was previously considered possible. In 1957, Omega launched a series of three “Professional” watches – watches that were meant to be dedicated to a specific target group of individuals and professions: Seamaster (professional divers), Speedmaster (professional racecar drivers), and Railmaster (engineers). The first Speedmaster, the CK 2915, was, like many other chronographs of the time, a racing chronograph. The CK2998 succeeded the first Speedmaster in 1959 after only two years of production of that first pivotal reference. Though the resemblance to the CK2915 is unmistakable, the watch went through a number of changes to make it more legible: it had the classic black anodized aluminum bezel insert, newly-designed alpha hands, o-rings around the pushers to improve water resistance, and a slightly larger case (40mm vs 39mm of the CK2915). It was this watch that started the Speedmaster's legacy in space, as it travelled to space on the wrist of Wally Schira during the Mercury 8 mission on October 3, 1962. Since 1966 (starting with the two references 105.012 and 145.012), all watches with the NASA flight-tested specifications have borne the word "Professional" on the dial. The reference 145.022 like the one we have here had a long production run between 1968 and roughly 2000, with the later references using the “145.0022” designation. What makes the 145.022 special is that this was the first reference with the 861 caliber, a more durable and more easily mass-produced, higher-beat chronograph caliber that succeeded the 321. The watch you see here has an original tritium dial with light ecru-colored patina on the dial. This model had a service in 2019 by our Omega Certified Watchmaker for 700 Euro.

Shipping Info

Shipping Charges (Express Courier Service - tracked and fully insured)
- Within Europe: 40 Euro and 1-3 working days
- World Wide: 80 Euro and 3-6 working days (we ship a lot to customers in the US and Singapore)
We recommend the Express Courier Service as its much more reliable than a regular post office parcel.
If you decide to buy multiple watches for long term investment purposes, shipping is only charged once.

On average it takes us 1.5 working days to get the watch shipped. (We need to get it out of the bank vault, do a last check on proper function, pack it carefully and professionally and take it to the courier company. After the watch is shipped, you will automatically receive a tracking link so you can follow your parcel.)

Payment Method

You can place the order directly through the checkout system of our website (by pressing the green "buy button" to the right of the watch pictures). This checkout takes usually only 3-5 minutes and no registration (and also no login) is needed. You can choose between bank transfer, credit card (Master Card and Visa), paypal (+3.5%) or a cash payment when meeting personally in Vienna as payment options through this website checkout.
Some customers prefer to pay through bank transfer (bank wire) by simply exchanging bank and address details via email. This is still possible as it was our first and only payment option when we started the company in 2013. Ironically, its still the most used.

Return and Refund Policy

We accept Returns, if the watch is not as described. We also accept returns if you don't like the watch at all immediately after receiving it. You can choose whether you want to exchange it for a different watch or get your money back.

FAQs

How I can be assured that the watches I’am buying are authentic?

With constantly over 400 models on stock, Vintage Portfolio has become one of the leading vintage watch dealerships in Central Europe. All of our models are examined by our vintage watchmaker team and confirmed as authentic. We offer a lifetime money-back warranty on authenticity, meaning that you will receive a full refund of your money in case we have made a mistake.
We try to keep vintage models as close to their original factory condition as possible. Secondary watch parts (such as dials, hands, crown and glass) may have been restored, replaced or freshly reproduced with attention to detail by our watchmaker team as needed. That being said, please read the condition report in the listings for these specifications of each watch.

Are your watches working well and keeping time?

Our watches are fully inspected, cleaned, serviced and calibrated by our vintage watchmakers. They are sold with a six month warranty on proper functioning, unless otherwise stated in the description (the condition report) of each listing.

How long does it take you to make the watch ready for shipment?

It usually takes us one working day to take the watch to the postal service, as we need to get it out of our bank vault, do a final check on proper function, pack it carefully and send it out. A tracking link will be sent to you via email so that you can follow the shipment.

What will i receive along with my purchase?

- The watch itself (as visible on the pictures, described in the listing)
- an official company invoice (on which our warranties are stated)
- a Vintage Portfolio User Manual to your watch (please read it)
- and a Vintage Portfolio Watch Box. (These watch travel boxes are great to take two of your watches with you while travelling - so you can switch watches even while being abroad.)

What happens if I have a problem with a watch?

Contact us via email, describe your issue and we will help as soon as possible and to the best of our abilities. Until now, we never left a customer behind and have no intention in changing this attitude in future. (Before you get in tough please dont forget to actually read the english “single page” user manual for your watch which will be inside the parcel, right beside the company invoice. Most questions will be already answered this way.)

From where do you buy your watches?

We acquire watches mainly from collectors that built up a collection throughout their life and at some point decide to sell their watches, for instance, if their children don't pay attention to watches. Our trade margins are small as we operate as an online shop so we can pay well for good collections.
